great bike November 18, 2006 infandum (Somerville, MA) 53 out of 53 found this review helpful
I am enjoying this bike a great deal. It doesn't take up too much room, although the "stow away" aspect of it was not as impressive as I was hoping--when you fold it up, you save maybe 1 foot of room. But that's okay because it's still a pretty skinny device. I keep it in the closet and roll it out every day--I wouldn't say it's light (it's about 40 lbs) but it's not hard to maneuver. Assembly was not that difficult. All in all, a great bike for getting some exercise while doing other things (I watch TV, read, or play a game on my Nintendo DS).
The Perfect Little Exercise Bike. I am Pleasantly Surprised. February 23, 2008 S. Simmons (Los Angeles, CA USA) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
So, I fell off a chair while trying to kill a spider. He won. I received a Level 3 Sprained Ankle. Ouch!! Physical Therapist says "Go get an Exercise Bike." I'm like, "The one that my 74 year old Mother uses?" Yes, she says, exactly.
So, who I am to argue with two torn ligaments and a very good Physical Therapist? I came right to Amazon, read the reviews, and wanted something small and cheap. I figured I would use it for a month or two and toss it into the garage.
I have to say, that I am so pleasantly surprised with this bike!
It is sturdy, silent, and I can just put my iPod on and ride for 30 to 45 minutes with the tension level at 6 or 7 and it is a great workout! I am 5'5 and the height is perfect. My husband is 6'2 and can not ride it- he is too tall, bike is too small. No biggie- it's really just for me, kind of like my Pilates DVD's. He can jog and I can bike until I'm fully healed and start the heavy-duty walking again. But you know what? I will not be tossing the bike in the garage- it is an effective, weather-impervious workout, and I enjoy it.
Use hand weights if you want while riding to increase your heart rate and work those arms! I use 3 pound weights- and I can feel it after.
Also- THE SEAT IS HARD. I purchased the Sunlite Cloud Nine Gel Bicycle Seat Cover and it really helps. Still not exactly "soft and cushy" but no bike seat ever is, so the gel seat cover makes a huge difference.
Husband put it together in 25 minutes and it arrived in one day. Two thumbs up!
Excellent bike January 20, 2008 jp (ca) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
I've had the bike for about a week. It's great! I'm really surprised how sturdy it is, considering how compact (relatively) and light-weight it is. I'm not sure what all the complaints are about. First of all, I found the bike easy to put together (1/2 hour or so). Also, I am a 5'5" woman, and it seems to fit me perfectly with the seat adjusted to the fourth hole from the top, so I don't see how someone my height would have a problem touching the pedals, considering I have 3 holes to adjust the seat lower (I could lower the seat about 4 inches if I wanted to). In response to an earlier post, I'm not sure if it would fit a 4'11" person. I think so, but your 10 year old may have to stretch a little bit, although I'm sure they'll grow into it. I was also expecting it to be 50+ lbs. I weighed it, and it's 37 lbs. or so. Not bad, considering that it's got wheels. I like that there's a perfect place to set your water bottle in front of you where the frame is split. And although I wouldn't call it comfortable, it's not uncomfortable. Oh, and for the record, I've been using it for at least 45 min every day, it it's just fine.
Overall, a great buy if you're on a budget and would like a machine that saves space. Well built, resistance is good, compact, and relatively inexpensive.
Great stationary bike May 16, 2007 S. Wong (California) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I love this bike. After reading reviews on this product I decided to buy one, and it doesn't disappoint. My only complaint is that the oval monitor doesn't turn off unless you take the batteries out from the back. Otherwise, this bike works wonderfully and is a great value, even when the $40 shipping cost is added. It took me about an hour to assemble, and it folds very well and has wheels at the bottom so you don't have to strain your back to move it from one place to another. Highly recommend!
Question raised - chain seems to be rattling February 27, 2008 Tulips4Ever (DC) 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Another update to the review below: the bike is making rattling noise up front in the wheel section. Anyone else have this problem? And how do I fix this?
I'm petite and bad at putting ikea furniture together so I had some misgivings about the easiness of assembling this bike. I needn't have worried. Except for it being a bit heavy for me, I had together, by myself, no husband or anyone helping me, in under 30 minutes.
Shipping was a reasonable length of time and the bike itself is beautifully smooth, sturdy and quiet. I love it!
And it's such a great workout! I love it!
UPDATE 5/5/08
I tried using it to exercis emy arms and upper body by kneeling in front of it and cycling with my arms, and I really feel the workout, especially in my triceps. I could barely manage 3 1/2 minutes. I do plan on building this into each workout so that the upper body gets some exercise too.
